  • Gonzales Ascension Parish [5] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gonzales,_Louisiana)
    • Report: LaMar Dixon shelter: (Fri, 9 Sep 2005) There are over 400 cats at LaMar Dixon. There is a huge number of dogs there also. People looking for their pets should go to this shelter if in any way possible and look for their babies. Animals were still being brought in last night from N.O. Some looked pretty bad (all skin and bones), but THEY WERE ALIVE! Good people are taking the best care that they can of them. There are also some dogs and cats at the LSU shelter whose owners are not known. I saw quite a few Rottys and some other pure-breds at Lamar Dixon, including a Great Pyrenees. Lots of small cuddly dogs, mixed breeds, and you name it. I saw Goldens and Labradores, Beagles, Pit Bulls, etc. Breed Specific rescues, I hope you will be there to help out, and all-breed rescues are definitely going to be needed.
