Talk:Main Page
From Katrina Help Info
This is the talk page for the Main Page: it should be reserved for discussions about that Main Page, and suggestions on how to make it better, or fix problems. If you have comments on specific types of data about Katrina-related sites, you should use the Talk pages on the pages for that type of information.
General discussion about how to make the site better should go in the Community Portal.

Why doesn't the main page's people finder section have a link to the search page, now that it's up? http://www.katrinalist.net/
User:Redriver asks:
How to match up people willing to house families now staying in hotels with those willing to board them for the duration? IS there someone coordinating this? Ideas?
- There are efforts to help with this issue. See: http://www.hurricanehousing.org/ --Wolf530 07:09, 2 Sep 2005 (CEST)

Another way to get these people situated is to provide tents, like in Florida, Homestead, when Andrew hit, We had a tent city.
Red Cross was there along with FEMA and Habitat for humanity.
Tents are good it will give people some shelter, and a sense of privacy and it would only be a temporary situation.
Removed: * Rescue needed in 1034 St. Claude St., New Orleans as this is probably no longer timely.
User:MrBucket asks:
Do the supporters of this website need help maintaining the format of this wiki site? I have become familiar with the general formatting of these pages and will merely maintain it's integrity in order keep the flow comprehensible as it grows. Plus spelling corrections are a compulsory obsession of mine.

- Count me in, too; I have about a year's experience in Wikipediting. I see the front page factoring is pretty clean by now, but a short lede (and the clipping of that second level one header, which looks kinda sloppy :-) wouldn't hurt.

User Nkb says: Please pitch right in with your obsessions for proper spelling. We appreciate your help, especially since sometimes I am the guilty party. Welcome aboard, and somewhere tell us who you are! All offers accepted!----
Someone clobbered everything after Housing Offers, probably due to browser limits -- please break this out into different pages and restore the old offers? I don't have the wiki jiu-jitsu to accomplish this -- drew 1 Sept 2005
- Drew, could you please link to the specific edit that caused the problem? Thanks! --CBasturea 19:33, 1 Sep 2005 (CEST)

We Should Swap Help and Resources on the front page
Agree? Disagree? Additionally, we might want to move the 4 blocks to templates, for ease of editing.

nola-intel
Hi folks,
I'm redesigning the front page for the wiki.nola-intel.com effort and have linked to you as a sister site, as requested by someone to our site. Would you like to place a link to our transcription effort on your website?
Cheers, Wohali (joant@ieee.org) --- CB, did you get back to joant? Nancy
Finders at top?
Should the links to People Finder and Shelter Finder go at the top of the page? Maurreen 02:41, 10 Sep 2005 (EDT)
Dialog and Deliberation Resources
A while back some dialog and deliberation leaders posted some resources and questions on the front page, not knowing where else to put them. They were deleted. Would it be ok to set up a section for the array of groups and practitioners who stand ready to help communities imagine their futures - and to own that vision? Let me know NancyWhite
