From Katrina Help Info
Angelo Embuldeniya is a SEA-EAT (TsunamiHelp.info) Coder and Blogger and is located in Bahrain. He was the second person to answer Rob Kline's call for help on August 28th and within minutes of that alert the SEA-EAT team formed the KatrinaHelp Wiki & Network team. At KatrinaHelp, Angelo is responsible for the Virtual Relief Call Center (that is manned by volunteers around the world on a 24 hour basis) which was the first to establish a relief communications network into New Orleans and other Katrina-affected areas via VOIP connectivity to traditonal networks. About 72 hours after Katrina, in response to Jon at CivicSpace Labs, Angelo coordinated the allocation of server resources and a call for volunteers to build a database of missing people. This project was later known as the Katrina People Finder which gave rise to many other Fidner Projects such as ShelterFinder and AnimalFinder (PetFinder). For his part of the PeopleFinder Project, Angelo rallied up all volunteering VOIP caller hubs with the SATERN (Salvation Army) Ham Operators and began to ferry messages between loved ones while ensuring that those who were found were responsibly removed from the ARC (Red Cross) database of Family Links and PeopleFidner.
UPDDATE: Angelo is currently with the QuakeHelp Wiki & Network team and assisting with post-quake relief aid operations at Asiaquake.org - you may follow-up on their updates at quakehelp.blogspot.com
